Festival with Emojis

It was my dream to attend a festival in a different country than Turkey. I want to compare with the ones I have been to in Turkey.

First day, I arrive festival early at 2.30 p.m, to look at the stage locations, what to eat etc. There are 5 stages total at the festival arena. The first music got my attention is from “The Woods” stage. Horse Meat Disco is killing it! The whole festival period one of the two places that I had an amazing time is The Woods stage. I will come to other one in a second.  Comprising the original core team of James Hillard, Jim Stanton, Luke Howard and Severino, “Horse Meat Disco” is the best place to dance even there is sun on top, you still want to dance until the end.

The second stage I enjoyed the most is “The Arena”. Even though outside is burning, when you enter The Arena, you feel like you transformed to a other dimension. It is dark, full of disco balls hanging from the ceiling, all you have to do is live the moment and let the music lead you.

After checking out The Arena, I headed to main stage for Chet Faker. His stage performance was magical. Around 10:45 p.m, everyone is coming to Main stage to see Kanye West. When I was dancing crazy to Ni**gas in Paris, some guy just passing by and gave me a look like “How can you dance like this?” This give me a lot of thoughts. Maybe he is not happy that Kanye was misplaced for Frank Ocean on the last minute. After listening to the songs of Kanye I know, I head to “The Arena” for my ultimate favorite DJ Bonobo.

Day 2, Sunday, is more exciting for me because I watched Flume, Nicolas Jaar, FKA Twigs. As the first day, I head to The Woods and danced a little bit to DJ Harvey. Then cool of with the Perrier free soda and head to main stage for Neon Indian. Everyone gone crazy when they played “Polish Girl” their famous song. Hanging around the charger station is the biggest problem in the festival because you want to dance but you can not leave your phone behind. We are in 2015 and smartphones are the biggest problem. Their batteries die very fast and everybody wants to connect to their social media channels.

First day, I could not see Rihanna on the stage when she joined Kanye because I was hypnotized to Bonobo at The Arena but when Lorde joined Flume on the stage, I was able to witness this moment! She was dancing with her hair jumping around, getting the most attention. If you ask me which was your favorite for the whole festival. I will definitely say Nicolas Jaar. His music was unpredictable, like from a other universe. Before we hit the Main Stage to see FKA Twigs, we stop by the giant emojis to take a group photo because it is a must! Ghost, Poop and Eggplant emojis are at the festival arena. On the first day, the security covered the eggplant emojis with the barriers because everybody wants to get on the top of it and take a selfie. 🙂 Also in the merchandise shop, you can buy tshirts and sweatshirts with emojis on them!

I will definetly go to FYF fest next year too!

For me religious music and dance are much more exciting and compelling than disco music and dance, possibly because I am age 76, and therefore much closer to death than the author of this post, who I assume is much younger than me.
